Licensing / Defined use

Licensing for the way you train.

Bring the dataset, permitted model use and license term into one agreement.

01 / Rights & use

Rights, connected to use.

Master, publishing and other required rights, secured for the applicable dataset and model use.

Start with the use

Your model.
Your direction.

Licensed dataset

Selected for your task.

Commercial training

Build a model.

Fine-tuning

Adapt a model.

Training and fine-tuning rights apply when included in your license, for the agreed dataset, model and use.

Non-commercial R&D

Low-cost licensing. A path to commercial conversion.

Agree commercial terms before commercial use.

Illustrated uses · permission follows the executed agreement.

02 / License terms

Two terms.
Defined scope.

Choose how long permission applies. Both structures cover the dataset and uses defined in your agreement.

Time-bound permission

Annual

An annual term. Renewal and updates follow the agreement.

Continuing permission

Perpetual

License beginsContinues within scope

Continuing permission for the agreed dataset and use. Additional content or uses require their own agreed scope.

Same boundary. Different duration. The dataset and permitted uses remain defined by your agreement.

03 / From brief to agreement

A clear path to delivery.

Content and commercial terms, developed together.

  1. Scope

Content, model use, technical needs and term.

  2. Agree

Rights, permitted use, restrictions and documentation.

  3. Deliver

Execute the agreement. Prepare the licensed package.

Rights & provenance documentation

Available for the licensed dataset. Materials and disclosure level are agreed with your team.

Before you license.

Practical answers for your research, legal and procurement teams.

What does ERISV clear?

ERISV addresses master, publishing and other required rights for the applicable dataset and licensed model use. The executed agreement defines the permitted use; clearance for one dataset or project does not imply permission for every other use.

What should we bring to an initial discussion?

An outline of the model or project, intended use, content types, approximate scale, technical requirements and preferred term. Those details help define both the dataset selection and the licensing scope.

Can we train more than once?

Unlimited training and fine-tuning can be included within the agreed term and scope. The license must define the applicable dataset, model or project and permitted uses. It does not extend automatically beyond those terms.

Can an R&D project become commercial?

Yes. A non-commercial R&D license can include a path to commercial conversion. Commercial use requires the applicable commercial terms to be agreed.

What documentation can accompany a dataset?

ERISV can provide applicable rights and provenance documentation for the licensed dataset. The specific materials and disclosure level are agreed as part of the transaction.
